Fit Mommas in Eastern AZ

Don't forget, my friends, about this week's GIVEAWAY!  Click here to enter for your chance to win an adorable Go! Go! Sports Girl doll for the little girl in your life.

I just had to share with you one of the most charming evenings I've had in a long time.

Rebecca, a TM reader in AZ, emailed me when she figured out I was slogging driving through AZ last week.  She invited me to come by her house on my way back to TX and I was really looking forward to it.

Yes, her home is 100% decked out for Christmas.
I didn't even take a pic of her enormous home gym.
That's what I want for Christmas.
Rebecca and her workout partner, Christie, spent two glorious hours talking shop.  We talked about intervals, squats, heart rate monitors, heart rate training, calorie counts, recipes, kids, trail running, body image, moderation, eating schedules -- and way more.  Man, I was in seventh heaven sitting around her kitchen table eating chicken salad with jalapenos (YUM!!) on her homemade bread, Pumpkin Spice Cake and chatting it up with women who are as interested in this stuff as I am.

I love this blog for that reason alone.  It connects us.  It brings together women with similar interests and desires.  Hopefully, after reading, researching, thinking about, and applying all this stuff -- together we'll be better women, athletes, and mothers.

I know after an evening spent with Rebecca and Christie, I am definitely just that:  better.

Brilliant! Working and Walking

Fit Momma Karen sent me this photo of her at home work space. I met Karen at a blogging conference a few weeks ago and she was eager to share her method of working out:

Karen works at home and like many of us found herself sitting in front of the computer a little too much. On top of that, she was struggling finding time to workout. So, she combined the two! She jimmied up a desk to attach to her treadmill.  She got some cheap wood from Home Depot, drilled some holes in the sides and bungee corded the "desk" onto her treadmill.  BINGO! The girl logs 5 miles every morning at a 3.1 mph+ on her treadmill while answering emails and getting caught up with her work.

 I am utterly jealous.

I saw these treadmill workstations on the news about companies who have their employees walking and working, but they only go at a 1.5 mph (which still beats sitting any day of the week!). I have never thought of making my own -- BUT NOW I AM!

The possibilities are endless here, gals. I immediately think of the kids. Wanna play that computer game? Sure! Hop on the treadmill and play for 30 minutes! Ha! Exercise done!  Hey, husband, had a long day at work and too tired to workout?  How about watching a movie on the computer while walking on the treadmill!

Karen, you are my hero and I love that you thought outside the box. That's what mothers do best, right? No excuses, just solutions!  BRILLIANT!

BTW -- Karen's site is amazing. It is called Volunteer Spot and is for all of us moms who are volunteering in the classroom, at church, sports, etc. It provides free tools to manage all the volunteers and our time.

Hey, Fit Mommas!  I love getting photos and ideas like this from you.  If you have any brilliant fitness or nutrition solutions, please send them my way!  I'd love to share.
